Wyse Technology Selected by Jenny Craig, the World's Leading Weight Management Company, to Go 'Thin'

Weight Management Centers Standardize On Wyse Thin Clients To Streamline IT Administration and Lower Operating Costs

SAN JOSE, Calif. – 04/18/2007 - Jenny Craig, one of the world's largest weight management companies, has replaced its "bulky" PC network in favor of Wyse thin clients. Jenny Craig is deploying 1,800 Wyse thin clients in all its 500 weight management centers throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

In going "thin", Jenny Craig upgraded its Wide Area Network (WAN) in North America, opting to incorporate new technologies in all aspects of the infrastructure, from state of the art servers and security products to Wyse thin clients.

"We turned to Wyse to completely overhaul our antiquated PC network," says Alessandra (Allie) Nicoletti, Director of Strategy for Jenny Craig. "We needed a simple solution that could easily be deployed across all our centers while still being centrally managed by a limited IT staff. It came down to ease of use and cost savings. That's why we opted to go with Wyse instead of continuing to invest in our traditional PC network. These thin clients give you PC-class functionality and applications without the administrative headaches."

As a result, Jenny Craig is standardizing on Wyse V90 Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Embedded (XPe) thin clients and Wyse Device Manager (WDM) software to streamline and centrally manage all IT operations. This will allow them to improve customer service by providing users with real-time access to information without compromising on security or performance. Wyse thin clients also help reduce IT administration costs because software patches and upgrades can be managed remotely. In total, more than 3,000 employees will be using Wyse thin clients to access information.

Nicoletti adds that, "we view this as one of the most ambitious and, hopefully, successful IT projects that we've undertaken. The benefits of moving to thin clients speak for themselves in terms of an ROI."

The Wyse V90 was selected because of its ability to handle the most demanding desktop applications, yet retain the small size and power consumption attributes of thin clients. In addition, the Wyse V90 is powered by the Microsoft Windows XPe operating system and features leading inherent security, peripheral connectivity, and sufficient processing power to locally run applications in a sleek, stylish, and fan-less enclosure.

In order to minimize maintenance and total cost of ownership, the V90 utilizes Wyse Device Manager (WDM), the industry's most scalable remote device management solution. WDM provides the granular asset tracking that the IT department wants by giving administrators the information they need about each hardware device, including the software that is deployed on that device. By presenting up-to-date status information on a simple-to-use central console with remote diagnostic capabilities, the IT department can reduce the desktop visits by their technicians.

"Jenny Craig is just another example of why thin computing appeals on so many levels," says Maryam Alexandrian, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Channels for Wyse Technology. "You can examine it from an ease of use, total cost saving, enhanced security or energy reduction perspective and thin computing always has a great value proposition. More and more organizations are determining that PC-based networks are just too costly and not flexible enough to meet their requirements."
