Embedded OEM Partner of the Year
Wyse
and Microsoft Collaborate on Making Windows XP Embedded
(XPe) an Industry Standard for Thin Clients
SAN JOSE, Calif. – 05/01/2007 -
Wyse Technology, the industry's leading supplier
of Microsoft Windows Embedded Powered thin clients,
today announced that it was being honored by Microsoft
Corp. as the recipient of its 2007 North and South
America Windows Embedded Excellence Awardsin the
category of “Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).”
Wyse was chosen because of its
excellence in spearheading sales and developing
new market opportunities for Microsoft Windows XP
Embedded (XPe) thin clients. Microsoft also singled
out Wyse because of its ongoing innovation and commitment
to delivering devices and solutions based on Windows
XPe while making the operating system an industry
standard for thin computing.
Moving to thin computing is proven
strategy that allows users to reduce IT costs, improve
security as well as enable new applications. Wyse
thin computers when coupled with Windows XPe provide
users with all the functionality and performance
they need to run an enterprise or business. These
thin computing solutions expand existing markets
by giving users new ways to leverage their IT resources
while opening up entirely new ones which aren’t
suited to desktop computing.
"We are pleased to recognize
Wyse for its leadership in the thin-client space,”
said Ilya Bukshteyn, director of Windows Embedded
marketing at Microsoft. “We are delighted in our
mutual success and look forward to working together
to bring innovative devices to market quickly and
efficiently.”
Wyse has been shipping thin clients
based on Windows XPe over the past five years and
prior to that shipped thin clients based on Windows
NT Embedded. The company currently supports Windows
XPe across its Wyse S, V and VL classes of thin
computers. This support and endorsement of the Windows
operating system has helped make Wyse Technology
the overall worldwide leader in thin computing sales.
"More and more customers are
discovering the versatility and power of Microsoft
Windows XPe," says Ricardo Antuna, Vice President
of Business Development and Alliances for Wyse Technology.
"The combination of Windows XPe and our industry
leading thin computing platform deliver on the promise
of a low-cost desktop without compromising security,
functionality or performance. We are proud to be
one of the only thin client vendors to offer a complete
product portfolio based around Windows embedded
solutions.”
